The Qatar Volleyball Association (QVA) organised Cool Volley festival for under-9 players from nine clubs appeared to be a big success.
At Al Arabi Club field on Saturday, 300 players from 21 teams representing Al Sadd, Al Rayyan, Al Arabi, Al Gharafa, Al Khor, Al Wakrah, Al Ahli, Al Shamal and Qatar Sports Club gathered to display their talent in front of the QVA President Khalid Ali al Mawlawi and Secretary-General Mohammed Ali al Mohannadi.
While Al Rayyan, Al Sadd and Al Arabi fielded three teams each, other clubs took part in the activities with two teams apiece, making it a huge affair.
Joining the FIVB’s new worldwide Cool Volley drive to involve young players in volleyball and beach volleyball, the QVA hosted the festival and all clubs participated with great preparations and enthusiasm.
Matches were organised to see the level of skills and game sense of young players. The boys enjoyed being part of the festival and they were presented gifts as well.
To conduct the matches smoothly, the QVA used 130 persons, including referees and line officials, in the event.
QVA president Mawlawi expressed his happiness and satisfaction after seeing 300 players in action. He also congratulated all the clubs and coaches for their efforts and called upon them to work harder to prepare a strong talent base for various national teams.
The QVA’s technical committee, headed by Yousef Kano, was also present to assess the technical level and improvement of the players. Other members of the committee are: Ali Ghanim al Kuwari, Dr Ali Mostafa Taha, Hassan Najm, Yousef Firdaun, Sherif el Shemerly, Mamdouh Wafi.
The QVA has posted 22 coaches at nine clubs to impart the basic training of the game to the kids. The players presented good skills, confidence and game sense that are needed at this age.
