Qatar, who finished third at the Asian Championship in Thailand last year, will be represented by Jefferson Pereira and Cherif Younousse at the FIVB World Beach Volleyball Championship, to be held at Hague, Amsterdam, Apeldoorn and Rotterdam in the Netherlands, from June 26 to July 5.
Pereira and Cherif, his partner since the start of the season in January, have already contested in two FIVB World Opens — Lucerne (Switzerland), Fuzhou (China) — and as many Asian tournaments in Thailand — Songkhla, Nakhonsi. Tiago Santos was Pereira’s partner earlier before being laid down by a knee injury. Pereira and Cherif had won gold at the GCC Beach Games held in Doha in April.
The biennial competition will have 48 teams split into 12 groups. The top two from each pool will advance to the round of 32, along with the eight best third-ranked teams.
