Qatar pulled a superb one-two in the men’s beach volleyball at the Asian Beach Games in Danang, Vietnam on Sunday.
Olympians Jefferson Santos Pereira and Cherif Younousse of A team justified their status as they downed their B team fellow players Ahmed Tijan and Julio Cesar do Nascimento in straight sets.
Pereira and Younousse, who won the Continental Cup and Arab title this year, clinched the opening set in 15 minutes and they had to stay on the court for another 18 minutes to wrap up the match. Pereira led the attack and claimed 15 of his team’s points, while Younousse managed 10.
Nascimento played at the net and gained 11 points through attack, while Tijan contributed 3 only. Both the teams had six service faults each. As far as aces are concerned, A had four and B managed three. It was Younousse who had the most services without returns – three.
