Jordan is finalizing preparations for the 23rd Arab Beach Volleyball Championship which from July 26-August 1.
The Princess Aya Al Faisal playgrounds in Al Hussein Sport City (Amman) have been transformed to welcome the region’s top teams, with 19 in the men’s and 10 teams in the women’s event.
The Qatari duo of Cherif Younousse and Jefferson Pareira will have their final touches in Italy after a week-long training camp.
The camp is part of their preparations for the Arab Championship, to be held at Amman, Jordan, from July 28 to August 2.Cherif and Pareira, who had represented Qatar on their debut at the Worlds, defied the odds to reach the quarterfinal.
Pareira had partnered Tiago Santos to help Qatar win the 2013 Arab Championship at home. However, a year later in Tunisia, they had to content with third place.
Star player Santos got injured midway through and Qatar had to field inexperienced Abdulaziz Khalouf.
Cherif joined Pereira at the start of the current season and the pair have formed a good combination as proved by their GCC triumph at home last April.
Much would be expected from them in Amman.
Coach Pedro Costa has also accompanied the two to the Italy camp.
