Qatar Sports Club suffered a five-set loss to Al Khor in the Qatar League as their slump continued, despite a change in coaching reins.
Qatar SC won the first and fourth sets, but Khor came back firing on all cylinders to win 21-25, 25-21, 25-22, 19-25, 29-27 at the Al Arabi Indoor Hall last week. The defeat was Qatar’s 12th in 14 matches.
Prior to the start of the match, Qatar had fired its long-serving Tunisian coach Ghazi Kouba and replaced him with Moroccan Nabil Masmoudi.
But even Nabil could not stem the rot as they continue to languish at the bottom of the table with just seven points. Only Al Gharafa, who have four points, are behind them. and it will need a miracle from Qatar, who finished sixth last season, to mount a serious challenge.
Hungarian Domotor Meszaros and Italian Danioni Casiano were the architects for Khor as Qatar blockers found them too hot to handle.
