After a brief lull, the Qatar internationals are back in action as they prepare in earnest for the 2nd GCC Games, to be held in Dammam from October 12 to 20.
Qatar had finished fourth, their best-ever performance, at the Asian Championship in Tehran last month and they continued their impressive form to beat Kuwait 25-19, 20-25, 25-19, 25-17 in a friendly at the Al Arabi Sports Club last Sunday.
It was the last match for the spikers before they leave for Poland for a fortnight-long training camp on September 28.
“We were playing a competitive match after a short break. Luckily, our players hit their straps in no time. We managed to control the game and won,” said Qatar’s Argentinian coach Juan Manuel Cichello.
