The volleyball competitions at the eighth edition of the Schools Olympic Program (SOP) have enjoyed an overwhelming response from the Qatari schools.
The current edition of the SOP is being held under the theme of “Sport and Peace”.
57 primary schools, 58 preparatory schools and 46 secondary schools have participated in the SOP Volleyball competitions.
In the preparatory stage, Ali bin Abi Taleb School, Khalid bin Al Waleed School, Abdullah bin Ali Al Missned School, Khalid bin Ahmad School, Middle East School and Egyptian Language School reached the final round.
As for the secondary stage, Abdullah bin Al Ali Missned School, Ahmad bin Hanbal School, Al Wakrah School, Jassim bin Hamad School, Musaab in Umair School and Tariq bin Zeyaed School qualified to the final round.
SOP is a pioneer idea that came in response to the prestigious initiative of the Emir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who is also the President of QOC, in an attempt to link sports activities with others, besides encouraging school students to practise sport as an integral part of their daily life.
SOP is a pioneering sport programme inspired and staged by Qatar years ago, which has received an overwhelming response from all entities of the country and has now become an annual sport event supervised by QOC along with other permanent partners.
