Keeping an eye on the latest trends in the sport, the Qatar Volleyball Association (QVA) had conducted an FIVB Level 1 Coaches Course.
A total of 60 participants from 32 countries are taking part in the programme at the Concorde Hotel. Qatar’s Mohammed Benhamida is the director of the week-long course, which concluded last Friday.
Coaches from Canada, Slovenia, England, Pakistan, Tunisia, India, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Libya, France, Morocco, Oman and Malaysia, besides Qatar, are participating in the course.
Apart from theoretical discourses which mainly focus on the latest trends in the sport, practical sessions were being held at the Qatar Beach Volleyball Academy (QBVA) in Gharafa.
“This is the first-ever FIVB-initiated training programme for coaches to be held in the region. We’re looking to improve their technical expertise,” said Benhamida.
Renowned beach volleyball technical supervisor Roberto Reggiani of Italy was the main instructor.
“We need a strategic plan to develop the sport in the country. At the federation, we’re looking forward to conduct more such courses. We thank the FIVB for their whole-hearted support,” said QVA General Secretary Mohammed Ali Al Mohannadi, who is also Chairman of the QBVA.
