The Qatar Beach Volleyball Academy (QBVA) courts in Al Gharafa are all set to host the November 4-8 Qatar Open, the eighth of the 11-leg FIVB World Tour.
With Qatar hosting an FIVB World Tour event for the first time, the organisers are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to make the event a grand success.
“We had hosted the Arab Championship at the same venue last year, which was a big success. We hope it’s going to be the same with the FIVB tournament as well,” said Qatar Volleyball Association General Secretary Mohammed Ali Al Mohannadi.
Apart from Arab champions Jefferson Pereira and Tiago Santos, Qatar are likely to field three more teams in the event.
“This event was allotted to Doha as part of the FIVB initiative to expand the scope and reach of the sport. The expansion provides significantly increased participation levels from more countries around the world which are developing the sport within the framework of their respective national federations,” added Al Mohannadi, who is also Chairman of the QBVA.
