Kuwait has been confirmed as host of the 17th Arab Championship, to be held from November 20 to 30.

Tunisia are the holders of the biennial competition. They had defeated hosts Bahrain in last edition’s final.

Qatar have never won the tournament and their best performance till date is the runners-up finish at the 1996 edition in Egypt, won by Tunisia.

In 2000 (Jordan) and ’08 (Bahrain), they had clinched the bronze medal.

This would be Qatar’s first major outing after the Asian Games, to be held in Incheon, South Korea, from September 19 to October 4.
