The Qatar Volleyball Association’s season-opening Federation Cup begins at the Al Arabi Sports Club on Wednesday.
Al Arabi are the defending champions of the low-profile tournament, which national players skip most of the time.
It is no different this time as well, as the national players will take time off after the GCC Games in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
Ten teams are drawn into two groups, with the top two from each advancing to the semifinals.
Arabi are in Group B along with last year’s runners-up and two-time winners El Jaish, Al Shamal, Al Khor and Al Gharafa.
Group A constitutes Al Rayyan, Police, Al Wakrah, Al Ahli and Al Sadd.
