Qatar Volleyball Association (QVA) President Khalid Ali al Mawlawi said he is hoping the national team to come back from Iran with flying colours.
The national team has already reached Tehran for the Asian Championships, which are to be held in Tehran from July 31.
“As the association, the QVA has done its part and provided all the best possible facilities to the national team. We carefully drew their training programme and made sure that the players are in good shape when they enter the championships.
“Also we hosted an international friendly tournament in Doha so that our team could hone its all-round game. The technical staff has taken a good care of their physical conditions.
“The team started the camp with more than 20 players. Now 14 players will attend a week’s camp in Tehran so that all of them can have a fair selection process.”
He also praised the players for soaking up the training pressure during the Ramadan fasting and coming up strongly. “There were two hard training sessions during the Ramadan fasting. All the players worked hard to reach their peak. The support staff also did a commendable job during the camp.
“I’m very delighted with their preps. They are showing both capabilities and willingness to play their hearts out. I feel the players are quite ready to perform for the country in the manner they should and we hope they would return with the best results,” Mawlawi added.
