The seventh edition of Schools Olympic Program (SOP) 2013-2014 under the theme — Sport and Integrity — will be held on March 20th and 21 for both boys and girls at the Aspire Zone.
SOP is an annual School sport events jointly organised by the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), Supreme Education Council (SEC), Qatar School Sport Federation and Qatar Paralympics Committee. This year International Centre of Sport Security (ICSS), the Qatar Anti-Doping Laboratory, the Qatar Anti-Doping Committee, and the Ministry of Interior and Maersk Company (Event official sponsor for three consecutive year, will also be part of the event.
The competition will be held in following event: Volleyball, basketball, football, handball as part of group event, while the individual events will comprise of tennis, athletics, gymnastics, shooting, swimming, table tennis and fencing.
There has been notable increase in the number of participants this year to 520 students, compared to last year edition’s total of 416 students.
The SOP is striving to achieve the ambitions of the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy (NDS) to increase sports participation and promote an active healthy lifestyle in Qatar.
